Yes. And so for those of us who have favorited CTR, commit-to-trunk workflows
for 20+ years, we maybe need to talk about better RTC discipline and
working-in-forks workflows, and document expectations around that.

So, do we have to "git clone" a new repos, or can we use the same one we used
for svn (http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/httpd/httpd/trunk/docs) ?

I did a fresh git clone to a new dir and proceeded from there.

Thanks, Jason.

I did a git clone of https://github.com/apache/httpd/tree/trunk.

I did some changes and tried to commit them, but when I ran "git push" command,
I was prompted for username/password : the one I used to access to svn repos does not work

How can I get commiter privileges ?
I suggest:

1. associating a SSH key with your github id
2. clone via SSH URL
3. associate your github ID to your ASF ID
https://infra.apache.org/apache-github.html

Please keep notes as you go for the website devnotes.html

I have no idea of what is devnotes.html, so I write my actions :

1. associating a SSH key with your github id : DONE :

ssh-keygen -t ed25519 -C "[email protected]"
ssh-add ~/.ssh/id_ed25519
then click on my profile - Settings - SSH and GPG keys - New ssh key
then give a name for the key and copy content of ~/.ssh/id_ed25519.pub in "Key"
area
then click on "Add SSH key" button.

2. clone via SSH URL : DONE (for trunk) : DONE

In https://github.com/apache/httpd/tree/trunk : click on "Code" button (if SSH
is not present, reload page), copy the SSH link
then run command "git clone <SSH link>"

I did’nt find a way to clone 2.4 branch : if one choses 2.4 branch, page
content is updated, but not the SSH link (so I downloaded the ZIP file)

3. associate your github ID to your ASF ID : DONE
https://infra.apache.org/apache-github.html
from URL above, go to https://gitbox.apache.org/boxer/ then follow instructions
once finished, wait until you receive an email indicating that "asfgit" added you to the "The
Apache Software Foundation" team "Apache Committers"

I can commit my changes yet

Can we use the build directory the same way as with svn repos ?

I mean the directory containing the "build.sh" script that permit to check errors in XML and to build the doc ?
