There is only one thing missing from your email. How did you try to
insert a page number? Step by step, what did you do?

There is a beautiful manual created for Libre Office and I have review
the one on-line for version 6.2, and the hard copy for version 6.4.
After attempting to put in page number I have never seen anything as
frustrating as to the numerous attempts I have made. I can put up with
the jumping around that it does, moving words, inserting new pages,
and the renumbering of pages (ie repeating the same page number on
two consecutive pages.) But cannot there just be a simple method to
get a consecutive page number on each page. I am not changing styles,
chapter names, or anything complicated. But it just doesn't seem to
work for me. I love open source. I am developing a manual for the use
of open source resources to build a project utilizing numerous open
source programs. But this is getting out of hand. I know it can be
accomplished since I see a very creative job of it in the hard copy. I
chose to believe that the manual was created with Libre Office.
I am using Libre Office, Version: 6.4.6.2
Build ID: 1:6.4.6-0ubuntu0.20.04.1
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. It is
difficult to push open source software when it refuses to perform as
the author describe. I would tell you that it is driving me insane,
but it is such a short trip, I prefer to walk.
Thanks,
