Hello everyone, my name is Hutch Morzaria & as Ross (and Andrew) mentioned earlier, I am the Technical Support Director at Tucows. Although I've only been with Tucows for 2 months I do have many years of customer & technical support experience, with the largest part of that being in the ISP & Internet fields.
I have already had the opportunity to converse with quite a few of you either on the phone or via email (definitely my preferred method of contact also) about a variety of issues & hope that I will have the opportunity of speaking to many more of you in the upcoming months & years to come. Based on my monitoring of the discuss-list, one of the key items I've seen the majority of you complaining about is the lack of communication & also the general lack of activity. In an effort to alleviate that problem, I have assigned 2 of my staff (Andrew, who's already posted & Lucas) the added responsibility of monitoring this list & responding to questions or just generally providing information. I can't promise a millisecond response but I hope that you will see a greatly improved level of communication from Tucows. Thanks for your time & hopefully I'll get a chance to speak to you all soon. Sincerely, Hutch Morzaria ------------------------------------ Tucows Inc. I have to agree with Josh on this (sorry Ross) -- I like the personal touch as well. I've always listed my full name, even though there's the risk that some person, in the heat of consumer rights passion, will rant at length about you on their blog and immortalize your words for all eternity. It happens, unfortunately, but I'd still rather approach all interaction as a an engagement between people rather than a challenge/response. I guess I should post a bit of an intro, though I think I've spoken with quite a few people here over the years. I'm a long time lurker, 2nd time poster and I'll try and jump in when I can between the regular flow of work. I like long walks on the beach, giving options/variations using slashes, digress excessively using parenthesis (sometimes embedding it a few levels deep) and be as humorous as possible without getting in trouble, so please don't take it as flippancy -- I love you all. Lately I've been flirting with PHP and related fun (CSS, XML handling) and hope to get a few useful tools out there for people. Personally I'd like to see this group (and/or one of the others) return to the open/playful dialog it had going when I first started here about 4 years ago -- that's when a lot of the best communal debugging/problem solving discussions came out. It really made the place valuable as a technical resource, not just a business/social one. At least from the Support side I don't come alone -- Hutch (new Director of Support, took over Kim Lerch's role the other month) and probably Lucas (Jedi Support) will be lurking here as well to swoop in when needed. Oh, I'm also working on a plan to consolidate a lot of the resources that may be a bit far-flung at the moment. (automation and integration(API, etc), brand management (renewal mgmt., industry info), domain-specific info, product/service help guides, etc) If anyone wants to spend a quick 5 minutes with a short survey please drop me a line! -andrewm / OpenSRS TUCOWS Support _______________________________________________ domains-gen mailing list [email protected] http://discuss.tucows.com/mailman/listinfo/domains-gen _______________________________________________ domains-gen mailing list [email protected] http://discuss.tucows.com/mailman/listinfo/domains-gen
