If anyone wants to jump in or monitor the chat via a browser (rather than install a client), I just put up a Java-based IRC client on the developer site:
http://developer.tucows.com/asktucows/ Pretty much the only thing you have to do is change your Nickname to something unique. I'll likely be using "andrew_moo" since "andrewm" has already been taken by someone.
