I am very concerned about this if it is true. I assume all domains that we have registered from 2000 or whenever we first joined OpenSRS that the data would still be there.
Can we get the official policy declaration about this? At the very minimum, I'd like to have the info exported into a compressed archive and I'll store it on my own systems if necessary. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of George Kirikos Sent: March 29, 2007 11:19 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [domains-gen] How far back does OpenSRS archive the "notes" data?? Hello, I was checking the "notes" section of a domain in the RWI (i.e. from the main menu, enter an old domain in "View Domain", click "Query", then click "View" next to "Notes", and then click "View Archived Notes". The archives don't seem to go back prior to 2005 for any domain I check, though, even though there is certainly data before that. Hopefully that older data is still intact somewhere. Does anyone else experience this? For auditing purposes (tracking a domain's history), it's good to have access to the complete record. Given that hard disk space is so cheap, one would think having it in the database (or in a separate database) wouldn't be difficult (and there are services like Amazon S3 that can also help to archive infrequently accessed data).
