Basically, a domain name is worth what somebody will pay for it. If you're not motivated by money, then maybe sell the name over to the guys who could really use it, either for cost or some token amount like $500 or $1000.
What you could do is include some other benefit in the deal like a favorable price on the domain name if they put a link back to you on the website, ie "Looking for xyz.com? They've been acquired by abc.net" As for the other unsolicited emails, there is lots of speculation these days, they could be from chicken boners looking to buy the name from you with the objective of "flipping" it to these other guys (with or without these other guys even being aware of it) -mark John Peacock wrote: > I have a .COM domain that we obtained through purchase of another > company.
