Hi Benno, In speaking with our developers I've found out that this is a system limitation for us at the moment due to the way we handle .DE orders.
The good news is that there is a project underway that will change the way we process .DE and make it real-time. When this project goes live, it will solve the problem of using umlauts and other special characters in domain information as well. There will be an announcement when this project goes live.
