<<<<FORWARDING INFO ON A GREAT NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT SUPPORTS OUR USA TROOPS OVER SEAS.....
Hi Everyone,
I have just adopted a soldier and two troop units myself! so I have my work cut out for me huh! I only have to send a letter and some jokes about once a week or so, and for the Army personnel that do not receive any mail while over seas, my mail and jokes will be a real morale boost for them :) so...... please take a look at the info if you have a minute and make some lonely soldiers stay over seas a little better by sending them a note, card or even a newspaper or magazine. Just a few minutes out of your day a week will do wonders for our troops that are far away from home! Thanks :))
Mustang Sylvia....
WHAT is AdoptaPlatoon?THANKS!!!!
The Adoptaplatoon Soldier Support Effort is a non profit organization that links moms, grandmothers, families, pen-pals, and other organizations such as schools, synagogues, churches, scouts, 4-H-Clubs, companies (*employees can also individually adopt a soldier) to deployed soldiers.
Thanks for asking about our Soldier Support Effort! Heres what the AdoptaPlatoon (AAP) Project is all about and what you can do to support our Nation's soldiers deployed over-seas!
SUPPORTING OUR DEPLOYED SOLDIERS
Here are the two ways AAP connects you to our deployed soldiers:
* The adoption support consists of sending a weekly cheerful
card or letter, magazine or newspaper and......
at least one care-package per month or so! if you can (gum, candy, throw away razors, cookies, or what ever you can think of!)
2) PEN PAL SUPPORT: Single people are linked to single soldiers only A single person is linked directly to a soldier and he/she becomes your responsibility to delivery mail support during the duration of the deployment (which is about six months or more). It is up to you to make sure that this soldier receives mail with the understanding that they are serving under difficult situations and many times are not able to write back!
Single ladies are not linked to married soldiers! Also, as much care as possible is taken to ensure that the person adopting the soldier is sincere and committed to that responsibility. Since this is the internet, we try to be as careful as possible protecting our soldiers; thus, we ask that you please provide the AdoptaPlatoon with your name, city and state, as well as marital status, and let us know what kind of support you wish to provide (either adoption which means weekly letters/cards and a care-package at least once a month; or singles to a pen pal which means writing at least weekly and occasionally sending a care-package). Please include your email address in the body of the letter when responding to the AAP! If singles would like to include more information such as age in order for us to make a more appropriate link, that is up to the supporter. Keep in mind that the AAP is not a dating service but we do understand that links are more successful if more consideration is taken when links between a supporter and soldier is made. All information received is kept strictly confidential.
How it works: In both cases, an individual soldier will be assigned to YOU! You will be sent a "soldier delivery" letter that contains all the information you will need to successfully support your soldier plus mailing instructions (mailing costs are inexpensive) For an example
of what shipping costs are for care package support to a soldier, please see "mailing instructions" on the main page of the website.
* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are a company whose employees wish to participate, we will work with you in order to arrange your involvement in this patriotic cause!
There is no way to adequately thank you for the kindness you will send to a soldier! Know that what you will do provides tremendous benefits for our deployed men and women who need to know that we stand behind them, and that they will never be forgotten.
Please join the AAP Soldier Support Effort and begin to support our Peacekeepers deployed around the world! If you can not adopt or become a pen pal, please consider supporting our deployed soldiers
in Kosovo via the American Red Cross. Please check the main page of the website for more information!
I look forward to hearing from you soon,
Ida Hagg, Proud Army Mom
