I would have to say that in my case, a personal favorite is determined over
time. A song that "catches my ear" may be due to one singular element that
doesn't hold in the long haul. It takes a while to pick up on the subtleties
of different tunes.
I hated the album Minute by Minute when I first listened. Today Daughters of
the Sea is one of my favorites, never really even noticed it when I first
heard. Anyway, you get the point.
(I've never been a romantic proponent of "love at first sight" either.)
