Hello, everyone. I was wondering if anyone on the list tried to call during
the show, and what happened. I didn't recognize anyone they put on the air
as being from the fan club. I didn't call.
I have to say, aside from the more serious conversation, there were a few
funny remarks made in response to the questions which really had me
laughing. I remember a caller said he thought Stampede was the best album
the Doobies made and there was some discussion about Rainy Day Crossroads
and the fact that Pat played a saw in that number. Of course, BIG Mike
explained that it was 12" power table saw (a la Norm Abrams) that was used.
Another caller asked the meaning behind (I think it was) Slow Burn and (was
it?) Pat who said it was a chant. Pat also had an amusing story about his
extended stay in Bali. There were some chuckles too when John was
explaining about Doobies music on Mars and the useful infomation that could
be found at www.doobiebros.com.
I thought it was neat to listen to the guys live halfway across the country.
They sounded relaxed and in good spirits. I'm glad the band has gotten the
exposure on Rockline and the chat site they so deserve. We know they have
many fans, and long-time ones to boot, but getting more recognition and fans
like this is just great. I hope Y2K will be a banner, and most memorable,
year for the Doobies.
Rockline has psyched me up a little more about their upcoming AC appearance
and I'll probably be playing the box set later...
