Hi Everybody, We have made some changes to the Doobie Brothers site in an effort to improve such things as download time for sound files, menu functionality, and simply to make the site nicer in general. Some visitors to the site may experience problems related to the technologies involved, and these can be easily remedied. There are only a couple of real issues that should cause difficulties, and they are: 1. Bookmarks don't work. This may happen because the old version of the site was actually several versions of the site, each designed for a specific browser and operating system. That is, when you went to www.doobiebros.com the first thing that would happen was a browser/operating system detection process which would then send you to the version of the site appropriate for your system, e.g. Netscape on Windows, Explorer on MacOS, and so forth. The type of problem this may create for using the new site is, for example, if you bookmarked the home page you may have "IndexMacNet" or "IndexWin" bookmarked as the home page. These "home pages" don't exist any more under the new site system. The easiest way to fix this is simply go to: http://www.doobiebros.com/index.html now and remake whatever Doobies site related bookmarks you have. There will now be only one version of the site, and it should make things easier and better for everyone. 2. Buttons/Menus don't work. Potential problems of this nature should actually fix themselves; that is to say, when you visit the site now, it should automatically detect whether or not you have the Flash plug-in. This is the technology we are now using for sounds, menu functionality, and such and is a very standard technology on the internet now. If you don't have the plug-in, you should automatically be informed by your browser and taken to: http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=Shockwave Flash%22 and taken through the process of downloading the plug-in. All you have to do then is install it and everything should work. This plug-in is enough of a standard to be included with the installers of the more recent versions of both Netscape and Explorer, so most people (88.3%) already have the Flash player installed. If you don't have it, either download the Flash player (you should automatically be taken to the download site) or update your browser - Netscape and Explorer are both free, as is the Flash player. 3. The "Virtual Box Set" doesn't work. The Virtual Box Set (VBS) requires the MetaStream plug-in. If you don't have the plug-in and try to check out the VBS, you should be automatically taken to: http://www.metacreations.com/metastream/viewer/ to download the MetaStream plug-in. Just install it and it should work. We created the VBS just for the fun of it, so you don't really need the MetaStream plug-in to view the site as a whole. It is, however, pretty cool. This should be it for problems specific to changes made in the site. We apologize for any frustrations that might be caused by the change-over, but please know that it's all in an effort to make a better experience for visitors to the Doobies site. Sorry for the trouble, but hopefully this will take care of getting people on the new site. Thanks again - Doobie Brothers
