I saw the Doobs on that same tour, I think--1977 or '78, or thereabouts? All
I remember is that Eddie Money opened for them. I remember being in the 10th
row on the floor at the Springfield Civic Center, and seeing John Hartman (or
someone) lighting a mallet and hitting that big ol gong. That was the only
thing I could see clearly through the reefer smoke because it was so thick.
If my memory also serves me correctly, it was during I Cheat the Hangman. I
can still remember that to this day as one of the greatest concert moments I
have ever seen.
