Thanks Rick Santangelo for a great email and the pictures. I enjoyed it very
much and it brought that moment back to me again, LOL...too funny. I was
hoping there would be something up by the time we got home tonight. I'll
tell you one thing...I am trashed, he he he. I don't know how far I'm going
to get with writing this out for everyone but, I'll do the best I can since
I'm barely capable of hitting the right letters on my keyboard.

Oh and BTW, Rick (Seaman) woke up this morning and kind of laid there
thinking...hmmm, do we really need to sell the motor home? He said that he's
going to pretend that he never paid off the credit card last week and KEEP
the motor home...PHEW, LOL!

Anyway, where do I begin?
We had an absolute AMAZING time. I can't think of any other way of putting
it. Probably the most amazing time of my life.
We met so many wonderful people and had 3 excellent nights of the Doobie
Brothers rocking our souls!!
I could have done another few nights of rocking but, now that I'm home I
realized how much I missed my little farm critters.
I would usually call my house everyday, if not twice a day when we go out of
town to make sure everything is OK. Not this time!! I called ONCE to leave
the number of the lodge when we first got there.
That's a world record for me so you can bet how busy everybody was when they
first arrived in Saratoga, no time for laptops.

We didn't make it to the Wed. Social on time but, Thursday social was great!
Doobie Dan had a small portion of his memorabilia out for people to see and
there was also a sample of the auction items that Laurin put out.
It was great seeing Tiran Porter again. He is the nicest guy. Very easy to
talk to and very personable.
Met some wonderful people and took lots of pictures for you guys that
couldn't make it.

Fridays convention was a great success!! There was a lot of money raised for
the National Veterans Foundation. (I'll let Laurin tell you all about that.)
There were so many things up for auction. Many signed guitars, drum heads
and lots of other Doobie Brother memorabilia.

Shad Meshad talked about the NVF and I think it really touched a lot of
people. It was great seeing Shad! You could tell he was flabber gasted
(sp?) on some of the bids, lol. Of course one of them being Rick Seaman
bidding on singing with his favorite band and winning the bid...with a little
help from me holding his arm up as Rick Santangelo said earlier. After we
had won the bid, Keith Knudsen said to me..."Your going with Rick on stage."
I felt nothing but, a hot face and little tingling all over my body, lol. I
thought, no way, and then I had realized that a Doobie Brother invited me so
I wasn't going to turn it down, despite my singing voice...the poor
audience...poor Doobies.

We never dreamed something like this would ever happen!
And let me tell you all a little bit about how it felt to be up there on
stage with the Doobie Brothers.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!
Laurin took Rick and I back stage during "Long Train Runnin." He put us into
the open arms of Ed Ryan (Doobies Road Manager for those of you who didn't
know) and then Ed escorted us to kind of a holding area on the side of the
stage where Joe Vallee was working and tuning guitars and making sure
everything goes off without a hitch for the band.

The kids were ready to go, the second to last song (which I will not name,
you probably know anyway but, I don't want to blow it) is almost over and
Rick and I looked at each other and said..."Ready? Here we go!" We were
supposed to follow the kids (they were soooo cute) out but, Joe came for us
and said lets go...get out there. Apparently Keith had already announced us
but, we didn't hear him....oops, and they weren't going to start without us,
lol. So, we ended up going out there with the kids right after us. I think
I went right to the kids microphone, lol. I was supposed to go to Skylarks
mic, LOL! I was so pumped!! We got a nice cheer from the audience and
ESPECIALLY from the FAN CLUB!! You guys really made us feel good out there!!
It was kind of hard to see faces but, I focused right on Miss Nancy out
there in the bleachers.
Someone handed Rick some sort of tambourine and me a big ole cow bell and a
stick and we rocked with the Doobie Brothers! Absolutely BITCHEN!!! (as we
say here in Southern California).
I'm so stoked I can hardly stand it!!

Doobie Brothers, thanks so much for your hospitality. If you hadn't made
Rick and I feel so welcome on that stage (I can't speak for Rick but) I
probably would have probably CROAKED big time if they weren't so welcoming.
I was a little nervous before we got out there but, thanks to Shad Meshad
giving me a little therapy before hand, I was loose and ready to sing my
heart out. We shared the mic with Skylark and at one point he said "You guys
are pretty good" and backed away from the microphone. I thought, OMG don't
go too far Skylark, lol.
I thought, hopefully the guy in the control booth was adjusting the level of
volume while we were singing...I mean adjusting it way down, lol.

We also had the honor of doing the Doobie Bow with the band and the kids. I
thought it was kind of funny. I was in between Pat and Keith. I tried to
come up too soon but, Pat and Keith held me down, LOL. I looked at Pat and
started cracking up.
Anyway, if they ever do this again for the NVF and bid on singing with the
band, it will be the greatest experience for who ever wins the bid.
It was WELL WORTH IT and it goes to a wonderful cause. So save those penny's
for next year guys!!

Laurin and everyone involved in the convention, you really out did
yourselves. What an event!!
Thank you so much for everything! I can't wait for Laurin's post!

Thanks Doobies Brothers!! You are the greatest!!!
Oh and BTW, I LOVE YOUR NEW SONGS!!!
The new songs are electrifying and of course the oldies were excellent as
always! The Doobie Brothers get better and better every time I see them. I
can't wait for the new CD!! YIPPEE!!

Signing off for now.

Have a Doobieful Day!!

Lori
