Ok, so I'm the last one to post on Saratoga.....coming from Virginia and
back...lets say, I'm in my own little time warp!!! Actually, it's a
Doobie Warp!!! I am still rockin', and start to applaud even though
it's only to my CD player!!! WHAT A WEEK!!!! I had not originally
planned to attend this year, but , my brother Chris Snyder, and Sister
HollyJ, set me up, and got me outta here, and out there in a few days
notice....HollyJ< thanks for the shove, and Snyder, thanks for all your
hospitality!!!! I have to start with the convention or the Lodge shall
we say.....meeting up with some of last years attendees Gary Banton,
Harry and Carol, Eric from Amsterdam (remember folks, he and his
beautiful bride were married at the convention last year????) Ed
Contaras (I know the spelling is off, sorry Ed), my other Sister Lori
Seamon and her fantastic husband Rick!!!! I love these two, they made
this year soooooo special for all of us...and will be the outstanding
moment for my whole experience!!!!!! And I cannot leave out getting to
see sweet Rick Santangelo, who seems to make everyone's dreams reality,
by catchin it all on tape or photo for posterity!!! So we can relive it
over and over again whenever we are having a dry spell!!!! And getting
to meet some newer folks, Helen and Ann,
Chris and Steve Adams, (finally some more southerners showed up...) and
ofcorse some of our all time favorite folks, Laurin, Suzy and Palmer,
Miles (rock on home boy!!) and Shad!!!! What a man!!!!He and his cause,
touched my heart so deeply, and brought this special cause we love to
support (the NVF!!!) to the front of everyone's awareness!!!! And what
a celebration with the cakes that Linda and Chris brought for everyone
to celebrate this last 30 years of the best music I've ever heard!!!
WOW!!!!! And the beginning of the toy drive started, right in front of
my face!!!! That was too cool!!!!! It has inspired me, and as I shop
now, I find myself, gravitating to the toy department!!!! It's like a
spell was cast on me from the moment I landed, and still has me locked
in....but that's great, it's a wonderful place to be!!!!!
Now I will attempt to hit on the band and they music we all love to our
souls.....
How do they get better, every time I see them???? Why do they never
age?????? I want to know, what kind of shampoo Pat uses, I've been
trying to get my hair to grow that fast with everything on the market,
but nada!!! And it never seems to get in his way when he starts flyin'
like the wind all over the stage, and rockin' out in what seems to be
another dimension!!!!!!! And Tommy, who has lost weight, I want his
diet!!!!! Big Mike too!!!!! These guys look better today I think then
is allowed for folks our age!!!!!! But Big Mike keeps that beat steady
and strong as ever, with what appears to be little or no effort@!!!!!!
And peals out on his new Harley, the way we all can imagine in our own
minds!!!! Pure Doobie Brothers Style!!!!! Fabulous ride,Mike!!!!! Now,
Tommy has our souls virtually in his hands. When THE man tells us all
to "git up", he ain't foolin' around!!! And what's even funnier is that
we all mind him like school kids, and get almost as much enjoyment out
of it as TJ himself does!!!!!! Now I come to Skylark, who always has
seemed to be as fleeting flash that energizes the stage, and then
vanishes without a trace. But this time, we grabbed the man....just the
size of him alone is enough to shake a person up, but a sincere and
generous person , just like the other band members. It amazes me. What a
bunch of men, have we all come to love and appreciate every single note
they throw our way!!!!! And gobble it up, waiting for more!!! We act
like starving animals (tame ones ofcorse, but animals sounds right!)
they gave us something new along with the old, and we act dazed as
always after rocking our socks off, and stand around as our hands tingle
from clapping so hard for that last few songs!!!! I have to mention
Keith, bless this man. He gives up his food, to come out and gather
with the mass of us, giving each one, that individual few moments, that
we cherish, and carry around with us, making us feel a little bit
special!!! (And the mans wife, is a great person to watch party at any
concert, she's right in there, like we are!!! Rocking like there is no
tomorrow!! I am so thankful, that there is a tomorrow, and in just a
few weeks, we will all have that new CD in our hot little hands!!! And
I hope everyone of you will call and keep calling your local stations,
DEMANDING, we want the Doobies!!!!!!! It's gonna be great!!!! It kinda
feels like we can reclaim some of our youth with this new music....it
might be 30 years, and we all might be a little older, but I saw that
same energy in all the folks at all of the shows!!! And it's
infectious!!!!!! So, lets pass it on!!!!!!! I am so happy that I got to
see and meet all of the folks that I chat with online, ya'll are all
fabulous folks!!!! The hardest thing is having to say good-bye , until
the next time!!!! And walking away from the Doobie Brothers alone,
isn't a sad thing, just starts my mind wondering, how , when and where I
will catch up with them again!!!!!!! And catch up with them I will!!!!
They are the best, musicians, and well as friends, I think that's what
makes them different from any other group I've ever had anything to do
with....such kindness and dedication they show to us, and as others have
said, it's unheard of from any other musical group in the world!!! Thank
you for everything Pat, TJ, John, Skylark, Guy, Keith , Big Mike, and
ofcorse to Marc!!!!!! Who else puts there soul right out there for us
to hear>??????Totally raw and deep, you can really feel it, when this
man puts that reed in his mouth!!!!!! I bow down to all of you, you are
the best. And the list of folks that were there....I know of nobody who
wasn't a friend!!!! So, thank you all as well!!!!WOW!!!! I have got
two Saratoga's under my belt know....and don't know what next year will
bring, but I pray that it will bring alot of us back together again, to
do the thing we do best........Love, Rock and Enjoy the Doobie Brothers
as much as we have the last thirty years!!!! Please give us a few
decades more!!!!!!!!!!
