I speak from the standpoint of the musicians on this issue. While I don't
tour near as much as the Brothers do, I understand how grueling night after
night of people wanting something from you can be. If the people who love
their music can't respect their privacy and personal time, then they will
not want to continue allowing fans backstage to meet with them.
My group opened a show recently for the brothers, and we were knocked out by
how nice and friendly the guys were. They were happy to spend time with
folks backstage, up to a point. Trust me, not all groups out there are that
nice. Many of them don't want anything to do with fans after a show. But not
the Doobies. I remember watching Mike come out and sign autographs at the
side of the stage while the rest of the guys got to eat. Then the others
came out and hung out with anybody backstage that was wanting to talk to
them. Don't pester them....but be grateful when you get a chance to chat
with them for a few minutes.
We especially felt their kindness when Pat offered for us to share their
dressing room when ours had been accidentally locked while we were on stage
warming the crowd up. Believe me, there isn't a nicer, caring bunch of guys
out there on the road.

I noticed alot of people writing about respect. But probably a majority have
met the band? Well, I haven't and have tried to for a few years.
I feel if the day is there where they have the time after a concert I may
have the luck to do so? But I understand their situations. I read books on
bands touring and hve seen specials relating to band schedules.
It is not all peaches and cream! I am sure alot of us think what a life! It
is grand until you live it! Sure they have their good times but bad is in
there too! It is a livilyhood for them. They appreciate your kindness and
respect but need there time too! I respect the Brothers for all there music.
They are like us, but please give them the respect and consideration they
deserve! I am sure the 99o/o of the fan club does this. But I feel that with
what Laurin has written times before it hasn't done much good to the 1o/o?
I have enjoyed the emails and updates on the group. But we must think
that if the 1 o/o continues the game we will lose many have tried to have!
To the Brothers thank you very much for your music, appreciation and
consideration to the fans! Looking forward to the new cd!
I hope this doesn't end but I hope that the people involved causing the
problem realize what they may be jeopardizing for the 99 o/o!
