Here's the full promotion for the Doobies Behind the Music show on VH-1's website, including all the airings over the next two weeks: One of America's most popular bands in the 1970s, California's Doobie Brothers personified post-hippie celebration and counterculture fraternity. They took it to the streets with 11 gold albums (eight of which reached the top five on the charts), rocked with a dozen top 10 singles (two of which hit No. 1), and won four Grammy Awards. However, as the '70s came to a close, the mellow vibe and innocuous "doobie" smoking turned into harder drugs, nearly crushing the band. After releasing their most successful album, Minute by Minute, in 1979, they finally broke up in 1982, only to reunite in the late '80s. Today, the group, minus vocalist Michael McDonald, continues to tour and spread the trademark feel-good message of its music.
