Hi all, Call be a coward, but I have been treading gently into the world of Linux by using Ubuntu through Wubi sami-duel-boot. Ubuntu 9.10 is fantastic! It works with all my hardware Toshiba P300. It is fast attractive etc, but when I install the updates Wubi's boot controller can not boot into Ubuntu.
I am a little nervous about going too far with linux too fast. I need this laptop for work desktop publication and powerpoint. Yes I know there is openoffice, but I have the presentation in powerpoint and they work well, I had some difficulty doing what I wanted with openoffice on windows. I really need a second computer to put Ubuntu on properly. but for now, should I: 1. Reinstall Ubuntu with Wubi and not apply the updates 2. Install Ubuntu with a more traditional duel-boot, (how safe is this) 3. Or does anyone know a work around? I think, from what I have read on some forums, is that the updates are not telling wubi or something where the undated kernel is. If this is the case will a a more traditional duel-boot solve this problem? Humm, I thought linux and Ubuntu was almost un-crashable, have I been mislead. Oh hibernate and suspend also crash Ubuntu on my laptop, I have gressed that this is a Wubi issue, any ideas?
