It's an Inspiron 1525 bought in 2008.
Had a quote for about £40 including replacement screen frame.
Will await if anyone else replies as I thought someone on the list does
repairs but can't remember who.

Which Model Dell is it? My neighbour has a defunct Dell laptop with a
good screen, probably about 5 or 6 years old. I cannot remember the
model number. And cannot find the search for it in Firefox history.
Replacement screens might only be about £30 on e-bay.
