I keep a Wiki. I put some of it on the LUG Wiki a while back. Over time,
I've found it better to keep separate Wiki pages on each application
rather than on each upgrade. The great thing about your own Wiki is that
it's searchable.
I am in the process of backing up my data from the xp partition and my
home area at the moment.
I always keep backups of /etc, /var/local, /usr/local too.
