It worked for me in LibreOffice Calc, but not in LibreOffice Writer or Thunderbird.  For the latter two apps, I got nothing.

TBH, I've never felt the need to put the date into a document as plain text; I use Insert: Field: Date in Writer and Insert Date in Calc.
