Hi Ralph
Thanks for the reply. That confirms what I had found but did not
realise that they removed mauals so agree what you say.
Did find other manuals and I have the original documents that came with
the printer but as you say nothing refers to either of the 2 questions.
Looks as if I'll have to find a new colour printer. Not long ago I
bought a Brother Laser B&W as that does the main network prints.
Perhaps I should have got a colour laser (? :-)) but that was going over
the top at the time.
Found the HP printers usually worked fine with Linux but their systems
have changed with inkjet printers.

I know it's possible as I changed it many years ago (can't find the
notes on how to do it).

I went looking for the manual and HP say:
‘Retired product

‘Once a product is retired, the official HP support content
(troubleshooting articles, user guides, how-to videos, etc.) for that
product is removed from the HP web site.’
That seems a stupid policy to me, one which only harms the customer who
has handed over money in the past. It knocks them off my list of
manufacturers to buy.
I did find the right manual, probably, at
https://manualmachine.com/download.php?id=7352056&download-status=process0001
but it doesn't contain much of use.
