Wifi-wise, your best bet in my opinion would be to get some wireless access points and scatter them around the house. There are also mesh systems you can get if you don't want wires everywhere. Just make sure you disable the wifi on the router, and disable router-mode on the mesh.

I've heard some good things about the TP-Link Deco systems, although I haven't used them myself.

I actually already have one TP-Link wiFi Extender, but it on;y supports 2.4 GHz signals.

The real problem though is that I'm not convinced that signal strength is the problem here. The connection icons show pretty strong signal strength, even in the furthest room that WiFi is used, so I think it's more likely that the router has been physically dropping the connections intermittently. The best mesh system in the world won't cure that.

I've looked into the design of the EE Smart Hub Plus and there seems no reason for weak signal strength. The Hub has six Antennas and its specs seem pretty good compared to the Nighthawk.

I'm still monitoring to see if there are any new drop-outs.
