I have had this issue as well with HP Printer. I believe it is the HPLip which is picking up the network device name 684EAD and trying to be clever and setup the Printer. I never found a way to get rid of it but renamed it so I knew not to use that one.
I just tried that, but the new label doesn't show up in the Printer drop box in Kate, although it's there in the System Settings.
