Position : Technical SMP (Storage/Data) Location: Dallas , TX Duration: 9-12 month Rate: $80+expenses Storage Efficiency & Information Lifecycle Management Initiative Overall Objective: To build a formalized Storage Efficiency and Information Lifecycle Management program plan and to assist in the ongoing program execution. Scope: Mid-range storage (excluding Teradata) addressing efficiencies in the embedded base of storage as well as future storage additions. Needed Assistance: Recommendations and methodology approach on how best to and most expediently to implement the following levers: * Data De-Duplication - Recognize and eliminate duplicate records both at block level and file level. * Thin Provisioning - Improve storage utilization and return on investment. * Snap Shot Technology - Refresh dev/test environments faster while dramatically reducing storage usage. * Data Review, Archive and Purge - Implement standard application data purge and archive processes across production, test and development environments. * Content Management Review and Compliance - Tactical implementations to apply RIM (Records and Information Management) compliance and enable storage savings. * Application Retirement Strategy and Practice - Aggressively expand existing data retirement process standard globally. * Storage Container Reclamation - Reclamation of storage to be repurposed to new application allocations. * Compliance, Enablement and Governance - Focus on improved data compliance processes and tools. * Database Compression - Reduce database disk storage needs by 30% to 50% for qualifying databases.
