*Project Description: *

The Remix team is a Dev/Ops team that maintains and enhances the Core APIs
currently in production for Best Buy. The ideal candidate should have
strong skills in system administration along with some programming skills.
This is a highly collaborative team of engineers, builders and problem
solvers; this is not a requirements to keyboard role.



*Position Overview:*

*Responsibilities/Deliverables that the resource will be responsible for:*

· Operational support for Remix team

· Working with networks, security, firewalls, load balancers, DNS and other
infrastructure components

· Maintain existing systems and write new features written in Ruby

· Utilizing Chef

· Maintain core systems such as MySql, Ruby on Rails, SOLR, as well as
troubleshooting technical issues through the network stack.



*Skills Overview:*

*What are the MUST have skills that you are looking for in a candidate?*

· At least five years of relevant systems administration experience.

· Experience working with MySql.

· Strong knowledge of Linux.

· Scripting, automation and troubleshooting of processes and systems;
scripting in the shell and at least one of the following: Groovy, Ruby,
Perl or Python. (*Ruby Strongly Preferred)*

· Experience working with monitoring tools.

· Experience working with networks, security, firewalls, load balancers,
DNS and other infrastructure components.

· Experience with API gateway platforms (e.g. Apigee, Mashery, etc.).

· The ability to prioritize effectively, communicate clearly, and
consistently deliver results.

· Keen attention to detail and high level of commitment.

*Nice to Have:*

· Knowledge of modern Deployment and Configuration Management tools such as
Opscode Chef.

· Experience with SOLR.

· Experience in configuring new services using HA Proxy and Apache.

· Ability and aptitude to dig into and solve challenging problems and
proactively avoid problems.

· Experience working with a team that utilizes an Agile development
methodology.

· Experience with Cloud Computing platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS, Hadoop, etc.).

· Experience with large database driven applications and/or distributed
computing.

· Experience working with a Dev/Ops team.

candidate must have in order to be successful in this role?*
