I would also recommend "Applied Microsoft .NET Framework Programming" by
Jeffrey Richter. Although not directly targeted to explain MSIL, most
samples are in C#, it covers the .NET framework in deep including the
type system, garbage collection, events, etc.

I found it a valuable resource that complements the other two books
witch I also own).
