It isn't gibberish, just a bit more difficult than a vb form. Page.RegisterStartupScript is a very handy method for a great many things. ASP.Net (not VB.Net) wil linclude more of the client-side attributes in time. The real limitation is the browser itself and how an element needs to be focused based on the JSOM.
