That won't work either because I still need column sorting in the
datagrid/dataview and 00 will come before 99 whereas 1999 will come before
2000.

I was hoping for a Regex solution, but it appears there is not one. I guess
I am left with formatting it on the ItemDataBind event.

Another method is to pull the information out of the database already
formatted.

Select substring(field,2,2) as yr from table

I have. Either I am blind, or they don't seem to clearly cover string
manipulation. They only seem to cover common string formats
(Dates,Currency, etc).

You should probably research the DataFormatString attribute of the
datagrid.

Is there a Regex expression I can use to display part of a string in a
ASP.NET databound datagrid? Example, I have a SQL text field varchar(4)
that contains a year value (1999, 2000, 2001, etc.). I want to only
display
the last 2 characters in the datagrid. How do I do that with a Regex
expression?

Thanx,
