Now THIS is a project I want to jump on. Let's start with this: Depends on
the car. If it's a Audi of VW, you could develop a VAG program, like VAGCom.
ODBII doesn't really do much, just simple diagnostics compared to the code
sent from the onboard ECU. Code 21 == ??. stuff like that. I know VAG has
it's own diag tool, as well as Nissan, forget what its called, and most
others are rolling out. This could be a good project though, and I wanna
help out. 3D animations, real time tuning, support for a dyno, etc, etc,
etc. Keep this post rolling.
