This is a very generic Sql error message and it's difficult to
identify what the problem could be based on it, alone.

However, you can certainly deduce that there is a problem connecting
to the database. Possibly the connection string used by your
application is no longer valid in this scenario. Also, it could be
that the db user does not have sufficient rights to "reset the
password". Either of these could be determined by contacting the ISP
support. If you say they're not very good at support, any clues you
provide to them regarding the problem may be helpful for them to get
it resolved expeditiously.

Also, it may help to find out exactly what configuration changes they
made to the DB recently.
