If you want to be a good programmer. Logic and reasoning are the aspects where you need to be good in. Download any free compilers or IDE s for C, C++ or Java and have a go with them. I may be biased but this is what I believe in- To be a really good programmer you should clear your fundamentals with C and for OOPS concepts with C+ +. Also start working on your database knowledge. MySql is open source and you can check if there is a free version available, and SQL Server Express is a free tool if you wish to go for Microsoft technologies.
