Hi Please cancel the above request for help. I solved my problem. I read that the DrawItem event occurs only when one clicks on the dropdown button. That tidbit of information solved my problem. I assumed that I had to draw everything.
There is so much to learn in VB.NET. It is amazing how much there is. One reads all the tutorials, which is fine, but one does not realize how much there is until you start writing code. Jerry B
