This could be reported to admin by mail and is faster than reading logs.

Shouldn't you rather figure out why it's freezing and fix that? It's not normal.


But if you worry about that kind of thing then monit is a good tool. It can be configured to watch memory usage, number of processes, check a port, then take action and do something like alert an admin and reboot the service, etc
