Hmm. Not really. It seems like something closes wrong file descriptors.
How often do you get them? How soon after the client logged in does that
error happen (immediately/in a few seconds/later)?

You could try if not using dnotify helps, but I'm not so sure about
that. In any case post your dovecot -n output?
