Not really. The move should preferably be atomic.. With Dovecot v2.0 there's dsync utility, which would pretty much do what you want. But that doesn't really help you yet. I guess the easiest solution would be to: 1) Remove the duplicate detection/fixing code from Dovecot code. 2) Create a script that resolves duplicates by deleting one of them.
