Same question here. Due to some family medical issues I wasn't able to
upgrade and migrate to a new host over the last few years.
Miniscule server, just two people and about 5 alias accounts... but
still
running Dovecot 2.2.9. In the next month or so I'd like to clean this
all
up and stay up to date moving forward.

Over IMAP usually always work, but dsync should work reasonably well
across versions.
