The AGSE agreed on the following: We like the nickname feature as it was, i.e.
you can rename your contacts at will (as in a variety of chat clients). You can
choose your own name when you create your account, so there is absolutely no
need to have a "session nickname" (ticket for removal of that feature is
coming).

It's possible to rename your contacts (at least as long as they are not part of
the session, see [bugs:#842]). However, if they are in a session with you,
their JID is displayed instead of the nickname you gave them.
