Summary: search engine

Initial Comment:
Google is a great search engine...However it would be
nice to have your search bar default to a new selection
such as Alta Vista or Nothern lights etc...
I realize these can be selected in the menu, but it
would be nice to default to a new search engine and
use it for a while and then perhaps change to a new
one for a while without going into the menu...

Your new release of Daves Toolbar with its links is
trully GREAT!!

kind regards

there is a setting in preferences.js that you override by editing
localprefs.js in notepad. the setting determines which search
is launched
by default. all you need to do is modify this setting every so
often and
you have your request. the setting should currently look
something like
this...

/* Default search engine - if no user-specified default search
* (in aliases.txt) fall back to this one
*  gg=google [default]
*/
defaultsearch="gg";

change it (in localprefs.js) to look like this to make it launch
altavista
(for example)...

/* Default search engine - if no user-specified default search
* (in aliases.txt) fall back to this one
*  gg=google [default]
*/
defaultsearch="av";
