Summary: Non-functional Quick Search Deskbar

Initial Comment:
After every install (four times, having completely
uninstalled the previous one) the open blank search
space (in which the search items are expected to be
entered) seems grayed out and does not permit a
flashing mouse cursor or any typing of characters to be
entered into it.

Here is some additional information I noted on
attempting to install it (according to instructions given)
by right clicking on the taskbar and choosing <Toolbar>,
then checking <Add Quick Search ...>, two pop-up
windows entitled "Internet Explorer Script Error" appear.
In the first Error window the following lines of information
are given:
        Line: 229
        Char: 7
        Error: Unspecified Error
        Code: 0
        File: //C:\Program Files\Quick Search
Deskbar\search.htm

In the second window this information:
        Line: 779
        Char: 3
        Error: 'gowidth' is undefined
        Code: 0
        File: //C:\Program Files\Quick Search
Deskbar\search.htm

I hope someone is able to solve my problem.

None of the suggestions (those in general and specifically
those of Monty Scroggins and Richard Alwood) solved my
problem.

As a last resort, I decided to restore my computer to factory
specifications. Knowing that in the process I'd loose
everything I had saved on my computer, I copied many of my
files (documents, eMail, favorites, etc) to a CD disk. Although
it invelved much work, I'm glad I did so. One of the first
things I did after the restoration was to install "Dave's Quick
Search Deskbar." Success!!! Immediately I had (and continue
to havebarring some viral interference) a functional Quick
Search Deskbar.

Perhaps this may help others unable to restore the deskbar. I
note that it meant also installing anew any applications or
programs (e.g., NeoPlanet browser, Quicken, etc.) that were
lost in the process. Good luck to anyone truly wishing to have
the advantages of "Dave's Quick Search Deskbar!"
