Summary: Text box doesnt appear in XP Pro

Initial Comment:
I've installed quick search on XP Pro and the text box
doesnt appear on the taskbar. All other indications are
that it has loaded, eg Search label appears in taskbar
and right clicking taskbar has search ticked. It also
appears in the Add/Remove programs list. Does anyone
have any idea what might be causing this. I had it
instalkled on my previous machine and am finding it
hard to do without.
Thanks

do you have "Lock the Taskbar" checked? If the search bar
isn't sized big enough, you'll only see the label that
says "Search". Unlock the taskbar and try resizing the
toolbar to make it bigger.

Have you made sure your taskbar is unlocked? In XP the
taskbar is locked by default and the symptoms you
described sound like that's the issue. It's in the FAQ
