Summary: V3.9.1 Win98SE minor glitches

Initial Comment:

Dave's DeskBar v3.9.1 Downloaded
directly from Dave's Website 02/26/2005.

Dave DeskBar v3.9.1
OS: Win98SE
Browser: MS IE 6.0

Offine when I click the >>> on Dave's DB a pop-up
menu repeatedly (15 times or so) pops up for
about .?? of a second and at that point takes over
my system (PC).
When I press the (3 finger salute) Ctrl-Alt-Del keys
repeatedly (5-7 times) the list of running programs
will then pop up and apparently MS IE 6.0 is running
even though I am offline.
I was able to get this pop-up menu to display so
I could read it and it has a number of categories
like "The Weather Underground" (A weather
forecast website)... I'd like to change these or
not use any at all depending.
I did eventually get this pop-up menu for a time to
stay displayed on my Win98SE desktop so I could
read it and use it. I went right to the Preferences
option and via that modified the localPrefs.js file.
Only changed the address to my own (don't want
the default one in my PC), the amount of delay the
clock is updated from every second to every 5
seconds (it's not important to me that the clock be
atomically correct) because I worry that might slow
down my system (however little), the help (?) so that
it is always available.
The (?) help key always says "Generating file..".
Does that mean the help file is re-created each time
I press the ? help key? I don't like that. Too much
disk activity. Much prefer the help file is pre-written
and is merely displayed, and if it already is maybe
you might consider having the message
say "Loading Help file...".
All in all I like your program. Hey, anybody with the
da*n good sense to write their own software is one
smart person and A-OK in my book.
Features I'd enjoy seeing in possible future
updates would be: Customizable so that user
*could* if they chose to add any search engine to
the DeskBar that they like. I've been wanting to try
out Dogpile(c) (cause I like the name so much) and
who knows what else is out there and what else is
likely to come along. Other than that you've done
a pretty darn good job on it and as I said, I LIKE IT!
If you should need anyone to help debug/beta test
for Win98SE I can be reached 24/7 at:

I'll admit I'm a bit frank and will say what I think but
only to help you make the program as good as you
can for you, me and everyone else who might use
it. In the event the nobody said it to you let me say
it - Thanks for taking the time and putting the work
into writing the program. I *DO* appreciate it. I know
how time consuming and draining debugging a
program can be and too many people just take it
for granted that it's a simple 1-2-3 type of job.
Peace.
