Summary: Cannot Delete Previous search text

Initial Comment:
version 4 RC-2

Windows XP SP2/IE7 installed(not used)/Firefox 2.0.0.1 Default Browser.

Unable to delete prior search text in DQSD searchbar using keyboard select and
delete button. Must use arrow keys to "bypass" text in bar-- then backspace.
When I installed I had a previous version (3.1.9.2) installed ... when I was
prompted to save local changes I said YES. Perhaps that was a mistake.I am
going to try installing again without that option... but if it is the cause
perhaps it should be included in the installation instructions.

I would just like to update the team-- since I completely
uninstalled/reinstalled DQSD RC4-- I have not had a singles issue... the
"blocked by IE" issue is fixed and it works flawlessly. I guess it must
have been the previous local prefs file that caused the issue-- I wish I
had thought to save it for you-- but I did not.

Nice Job on the upgrade.

I am sorry... I do not -- it was deleted when I uninstalled and rebooted
before reinstalling the new RC. I did not think to save a copy.

The only things I had edited were:
 the default (user) address
the default browser (use system default =Firefox 2.0.0.1)
the calendar dimension (a little longe and wider)
I do still have the first downloaded installer-- I will email that to you.
In case something was corrupted in it.

Do you still have a copy of the local-prefs file you were using when you
experienced this problem (a backup copy)? Would you please either attach it
to this thread or email it to me privately (shawnkhall of
users.sourceforge.net).

I'd like to take a look at it and see if there is anything that we may be
able to code around in the new version (maybe prevent upgraders like
yourself from experiencing this problem).

OK.... I would say that is HAS to be the local-prefs causing the issue. I
uninstalled from Control-Panel including wiping local
settings/rebooted/downloaded a fresh copy of the 4
RC-2/reinstalled/rebooted again... works fine. Even "Loads at startup"
without triggering the "blocked" issue... which did not work at
1st-either.
The installer DOES popup that you must uninstall previous versions, and I
did so-- I did not think that the local preferences file would be an
issue. The installer does not specify that you MUST uninstall EVERTHING for
this to work.

Perhaps a note could be added to the README file --or in the webpage,
warning those who 'tweak' this app of this...?
Maybe it seems like common sense to a coder, but us less-experienced users
get tripped-up by semantics.

Fixed now.

Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure about the local prefs issues, maybe some of the other
developers can comment on that.

A quick check of the install script shows that it shouldn't allow
installation over a 3.x install. I'm pretty sure I tested this, but I
don't have a machine to test this on now. Can anyone else check this out?

Yes, you should report any problems... bug reports are welcome.

Well... I have not tried yet.

I will. The installer does not say "local prefs" file shopuld also be
removed-- it asks if you want to remove it.
the price I pay for being lazy, I guess.

I just wanted to point out the issue in a "release candidate" I tried it
because it said on the download page that the long-running issue with XPSP2
blocking "load at startup".
I don't consider this to be too much of an issue. Just thought the team
should know.

DQSD is a program I use daily/recommend to all I know. If I run across
something-- I should report it -- yes?
I can always reinstall 3.1 for now. It worked fine -- I was just tired of
the blocking issue-- and this said it wa s fixed.

No Biggie.

Happy New Year to you all.

Have you tried uninstalling completely, then reinstalling?

I the v4 rc2 release required an uninstall of 3.x before it would proceed.
 Am I wrong?
