I believe these user events can be utilized more by letting them correspond to 2 different actions. As I've mentioned in my comment for bug 592008, (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php? func=detail&atid=432066&aid=592008&group_id=42081), double-click can be used to start the date-time control panel applet for example. I believe "calStart" variable can be extended, or a new variable (to contain user code(?)) can be added so that current users who have set variable locally are not upset.
