Hi Frank,

Not too long ago I added a function
registerKeypressHook that takes a function that will
be called when a key is pressed. If your keypress hook
handles the keypress it should return true and no more
keypress hooks will be called.

Here's a sample hook function:

function sample_keypressHook(keypressEvent)
{
  alert("sample_keypressHook:
"+keypressEvent.keyCode);
  return false;
}

and to register it call:

registerKeypressHook(sample_keypressHook);

Several things to be aware of:

1) this is called for every key press not just for
your function so you'll need to be sure you're dealing
with your search if you want it to be search specific.

2) the keypress hooks are called after normal DQSD key
processing and only if DQSD didn't handle the keypress
so you can't override normal DQSD functionality.

3) it's not in the current build yet (as of 3.1.5) so
you'll need to get it from the CVS repository.

4) you add the above sample code in your own
samplesearch.xml file or addon

Anyhow, I added this functionality to support the
ability for autocompleting of file and directory names
but have not gotten around to implementing that.

Hope this helps,

Brent
