Hello all - I've checked on a number of PSK-31 interface units and have decided on the Tigertronics SignaLink SL-1+ to use with my TR-7.
A couple of reasons for this are that the SignaLink does NOT require that you set up a separate PTT line, like all the other units I've seen. The unit is VOX acuated, and totally shielded from your computer, so you won't (they say) get any kind of RF or ground loop problems. Also, this unit does not require a COM port off your computer to operate. If you are already using com ports for an optical mouse and another for your digital camera, scanner, etc., this has some real advantages. The SignaLink is about $20 more than the popular Rascal unit, and they have a special deal running right now so that you can get all the required SL-1+ cables to run to your transmitter for about $69.95. You have to order by September 30th to get this special deal. They might extend the special deal a few more days I hear. Anyway - a bunch of you emailed me privately to let you know what I found out was the best deal out there, so here it is. Other's have good experience with other units, and this is just one person's opinion.
