I have just completed some testing and wonder if anybody else has observed
this problem when using an RV-75 with the R-7 or R-7A receiver; the use of the
TR-7 or TR-7A transcieving with the receiver has no effect on test results.

The R-7 or R-7A never has the PTO completely shut off when using the RV-75
for frequency control. When the RV-75 controls the frequency, the R-7 or R-7As
PTO always controls a frequency that is present, although only at an S1 to S2
level. For example, let's say you turn on the crystal calibrator on the R-7
and listen at 7300 and set the PTO to hear the tone of the calibrator. Then
switch on the RV-75, whatever frequency the RV-75 is tuned to will be heard, but
ALWAYS in the background will be the tone from the calibrator, at about an
S1-2. If you turn the calibrator off, what ever is on that frequency will then
be heard at an S1-2 level, in addition to whatever is being heard on the
frequency controlled by the RV-75.

I know what you're thinking now so let me provide added information. I've
done the test and have mixed and matched the following...three different RV-75s,
two R-7s, and one R-7A. Since they all have the same problem, I conclude
that it isn't just one receiver nor just one RV-75. What is the probability that
all three receivers and/or all three RV-75s all have the same problem? My
conclusion is that that either all three R-7s have the problem and/or all three
RV-75s have the problem.

So my question is, has somebody else had this problem and corrected it? If
so, would you be so kind as to share your insights into the problem? Right
now, I don't know if all three receivers are the cause of the problem or if all
three RV-75s are the cause. But I'd like to fix all of them.

Thanks and 73s,

Evan
