Just tagging on...

I've been very satisfied with a tiny PIC-based keyer from n0xas. He
sells the kits on eBay ("PicoKeyer") for about $18 including a battery.
For $2 more get the optional speed-control pot. It has four memories,
but only supports one "play" button, so memory one is fine, but it's not
too convenient to use messages 2 through 4; you have to hold the play
button down longer to access the additional memories beyond the first
one.

It uses dual MOSFET's for keying, so will work with + or - voltages up
to 60 v. It seems to key my T4XC alright, and the coin-sized battery is
still usable after over a year!

In fairness, I've also had good success with another PIC-based keyer,
from k1el (K-one-EL) - it makes it easier to access up to four memorized
messages with a separate button for each memory, but the speed control
is less convenient than n0xas's unit (doesn't support a pot, so speed is
only adjustable via the built-in menu system).

Either one will fit into an Altoids tin, with room left for most of the
altoids!
