This is a very timely thread for me. I was just examining my R-7 to
determine how to extract the DR-7 board. A quick rummage through my junk box
turned up several slot covers, and they do indeed look as if they're made
for the task. Thanks for the ourstanding idea!

The tuning on my R-7 is slightly stiff when the unit is at room temperature,
but after warming up for a half hour or so the knob rotates much more
freely. I'd guess that the lubricants used in the VFO have become somewhat
dry over the years, and that after being subjected to a bit of heat they
thin out. I'd like to carefully remove the old lubricant and sparingly lube
the VFO where necessary. What' s the best way to go about doing this?
