In my setup I can see the upper layer resource on "primary" and "backup"
but have no idea how to access the resource on "secondary" in case
primary crashes.
Shoul I access the lower layer resource on "secondary" (after promoting
it to primary)?
no. After promoting the lower layer resource, you (or rather, your
cluster manager) configures the upper level resource on the respective
node and makes it primary.

The remote node ("backup") connects to a floating IP that also migrates
to the second node.

Hope that makes things a little clearer.

Cheers,
Felix

It now makes sense to me.
Unluckly I have to renounce to the clustering features offered by Proxmox and use some "manual" procedure. That's anyway acceptable in my scenario where disaster recovery is the main goal.

Thank you Felix.

Luca
