That's a general problem of how Linux works, since it does not have a
stable binary interface for its kernel modules.

As far as I know, that is planned.

Depends on what your definition of "difficulties" is. Generally
speaking, it will probably take a year or two for it to be prepared,
sent upstream, modified according to feedback, then after a number of
iterations finally accepted and integrated upstream.

It will probably happen eventually, but quite certainly not this year.
